The Exmouth Shanty Men sing with gusto! This show was a heady concoction of lusty deck songs, heart breaking ballads, and all manner of larks and tomfoolery. You would have done well to avoid them at all costs, as their jiggery, and indeed their pokery, was been found to be highly contagious!
The Shanty Men have kindly donated the proceeds from this gig to the Lift Fund.
The Exmouth Shanty Men keep alive the proud maritime history of Devon and the fine traditions of sea songs and tall stories from the golden age of sail. In doing so they have become worthy ambassadors for Devon at festivals and concerts across the country where they perform in character, in period dress, and almost in control of their faculties! In 2010 they return as part of the Exmouth Festival.
The Exmouth Shanty Men also host the hugely popular Exmouth Folk Night at The Manor Hotel usually on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, when they invite local acoustic and roots performers to come along for a traditional night of music and song.
