Review
from The Exmouth Journal, Thursday March 28, 2002
Hitchcock well complimented
Dial M for Murder, by the Exmouth Players was directed by Mary Mulcahy.
During the interval and after the performance, members of the audience said how much they enjoyed the play and you can't ask for more than that, can you? It makes everything worthwhile you know - smiling faces.
The cast complimented Hitchcock well. The only female in the piece, Fin O'Leary as Tony's wife Sheila, handled her part, the would-be target for murder, with natural sincerity.
I am pleased to say that the would-be assassin, played by Mike Brookes, got his comeuppance whilst attempting to strangle Sheila who saved herself by stabbing the blaggard with a sharp pair of scissors - all good stuff!
Tony, the husband as played by Lee Lord, had some marathon speeches to cope with, one in particular, but he managed them very well.
Sheila had her shoulder to cry on in the shape of Roger Close playing close friend Max, wisely and well.
The set was excellent. Designed by Roger Close with décor and props by Mary Williams and a band of loyal helpers back stage supporting stage manager Bill Howitt.
Congratulations all round, I think.
