Sadly the theatre is not currently accessible to wheelchair users. The theatre is on the first floor of the building and the entrance is up a rather steep and narrow flight of stairs.
There are plans in hand to install a lift.
Recent developments (from the May 2004 newsletter)
You will know that we are required to provide disabled access by October 2004. Authority to appoint an architect to draw up plans, seek estimates and obtain permissions was given by the last AGM. Unfortunately our requests to Exmouth Town Council and EDDC for assistance with the cost of this initial work were both turned down.
The architect has started work and has been asked by Tony Goodwin (chairman of the sub-committee) to treat the provision of a lift, with associated work to the entrance (including disabled toilet provision) as Phase One.
June 2004. Progress has been made. The architect has drawn up plans and outline costings (guesstimates) have been reached. Phase 1 - provision of disabled lift and toilets - is expected to cost in the region of £50,000. Any donations will be very welcome.
